The Power of Resurrection

Even though Easter has ended, we at PAL—Pursuing the Abundant Life—are thrilled to highlight a special collaboration by Évilin Bastin. This cooperation explores the profound power of resurrection—not just in faith but also in reviving our dreams.

Known affectionately as Vilin by her friends, Évilin is a remarkable Brazilian-American woman who has lived in Wisconsin, USA, for almost  a decade. She was also one of the first attendees of the Identity and Purpose Academy.

Her journey is a powerful testament to resilience and the pursuit of dreams, even amid immense challenges.

For over 20 years, Évilin has navigated a rollercoaster of emotions, experiences, and transformations that have shaped her into the woman she is today.

Holding a degree in Social Communication in UFRJ and another in Theology from STBSB, she dedicated years to missionary work, serving with YWAM in various countries and working with the Junta de Missões Mundiais in India for almost four years.

Then, a pivotal and significant moment changed her life. With the support and partnership of Erica Yanney, PAL’s Christian Coach and Founder, Évilin embarked on a deeply transformative journey.

Through coaching—which played an indispensable role in her transformation and self-discovery—she uncovered hidden potential that had long been suppressed by trauma and fear. This process reignited the dreams she had buried in her teenage years, now they are flourishing like never before.

Today, Évilin is celebrating and launching this new chapter by rediscovering her passion for music composition. She is writing songs and her talent has caught the attention of artists. She is gaining recognition from some mainstream performers, who are interested in recording her compositions.

The Power of Resurrection

“I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”

(John 11:25-26, New International Version).

Because He lives, I can face tomorrow

Because He lives, all fear is gone

Because I know, I know, I know He holds the future

Because He Lives, by Bill and Gloria Gaither

The seven signs in the Gospel of John are already famous and well-known to us Christians. If you don’t know them yet, be it because you are a new believer or you have never heard about them, click here to find PAL’s post about it(discover here). That will make you read this Gospel again from a new and clarified perspective. Among these signs, each with its function, the greatest and most spectacular is, without a doubt, the resurrection of Lazarus, showing that Jesus is God because He has power over life and death.

I firmly believe that God also structures our personal lives with significant events. I don’t believe in a deterministic God who programs every detail of living. I believe there are some things He leaves open to our free will. But in the main things, I believe He is faithful to reveal Himself in love for His disciples in a similar way as He used John to structure the Gospel to reveal Himself to mankind. But in a more specific way, He reveals Himself personally to us in yet another book: the “book of our life,” whose content He calls us to be co-authors and he unfolds the scenario before us. There are signs in our lives that God has placed along our path to reveal Himself intimately to us. We fail or succeed in understanding the meanings God has to show us, through the way we respond to these events.

Lazarus was a friend of Christ, but death came to him as it will come to all of us one day unless we are raptured. Jesus emphasizes that his sickness was for life and not for death. Even so, He weeps at Lazarus’s condition of subjection to death as He does for all of us. He weeps at the doubts many around had about Him back then. He weeps, God only knows for what else.

Jesus is willing to resurrect us in various spheres of life, perhaps even from physical death, in this life, which many still report nowadays to have experienced. But, in the interval between His “arrival” and His “action of resurrection”, we see other miracles happening. From a human perspective, it often seems that Jesus arrives when it’s already too late. But with Him, every dark end can be reversed into resurrectional glory. Lazarus was called out and experienced standing after four days dead.

  • What signs has God written in your own history that marked you?

  • How have you experienced or wish to experience resurrection and life in those points that mortified you?

  • Ask God what personal revelation He wishes to show you in your life. How does He want you to know Him?

Even if you think there is no way out, believe that, in Christ’s resurrection, in His power over all things, we have the guarantee that we will rise with Him. May you experience the power of this resurrection in all the spheres of your life and may He enable you to be fully aware of the signs He has placed in your life to make Himself known by you.
