Don’t Put the Wagon Ahead of the Horses!
You have a spirit within you. Spirituality is inherent to every individual’s existence. The question that remains is: are you conscious of it and its profound impact on your life? And are you enjoying your spiritual life with joy, energy, and passion?
At PAL – Pursuing the Abundant Life, we believe that much of the unhappiness, discontent, and strife in our generation stem from a lack of awareness and focus on spirituality. Even those who attend church, seek to connect with God, and follow a religious path may find themselves disconnected from their spirituality in their everyday lives, with a serious pursuit that lacks intimacy, pleasure in God’s presence, and the bliss of becoming Jesus’s friend.
Connection with the Divine (at PAL, we believe in God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) and recognizing His paramount importance is the key to leading an abundant, joyful, successful, and fruitful life.
However, for many, spirituality becomes an afterthought, a boring aspect of life, something to be concerned about only when time permits. Don’t miss the joy, my friend! Choose the best part: deep joy in communion with Christ.
A Common Misconception
For instance, many of us prioritize our careers above all else, perhaps believing our survival depends on it. As a consequence, our lives become imbalanced and fraught with stress. “It’s incredibly easy to get caught up in an activity trap, in the busyness of life, to work harder and harder at climbing the ladder of success only to discover it’s leaning against the wrong wall…” (Excerpt from “The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People,” by Stephen R. Covey)
As we strive to succeed through our own strength and effort, we are often left feeling discontented and unsure of the cause. But does our survival come primarily from our own efforts? Is this the truth of the matter?
The truth is that God is the provider and source of our success! As Psalm 127:1 (New International Version) states, “Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain.” If your spirituality is in first place, all the strength and wisdom you need to work on your provision will be provided to you. You will be much stronger to face whatever challenges come your way. You will have renewed energy, motivation, encouragement, and a mind that is in a much better place to make decisions and maintain positive relationships.

God is the source of life; you must be in Him, and then everything else will follow. If you neglect this foundational principle, the other areas of life may falter. You will be putting the horses before the wagon, so to speak, and this means that life won’t flow as naturally as it could.
We’re not suggesting that prioritizing your connection with God will magically eradicate problems and negative emotions or bring instantaneous success, but we can assure you that prioritizing it will be the best choice you can make!
You Define Your Success
God has granted us free will, allowing us to define our success through our choices and actions. Yet, we can only reach our full potential when empowered by God. He is the cornerstone of an abundant life and must be at the core of your life’s processes.
Spirituality is like the most powerful horse that should drive the wagon of your life, not your career or any other element of your life. If you want to achieve maximum success, this is the way you should think of your life. Instead of an afterthought, it should become the first thought.
How Aware and Intentional are You Regarding Your Spirituality?
With this in mind, how attuned are you to your spirituality? How much do you draw upon the power of God? What about experimenting, having the right horse—spirituality—ahead of everything else, and being prepared to reach positive results?
The abundant life begins with a decision and an intention to BE in God to BECOME FULLY EMPOWERED and experience the best life you can possibly have.

Do not let the precious moments slip away in aimless wandering. Do not accept a life lesser than the one Christ has envisioned for you. Instead, harness the boundless power available to you through your connection with the Divine.
Seize it, chase after it, and live every moment to its fullest potential!
