The Ultimate Goal of an Abundant Life Pursuer?
In the hustle and bustle of our daily lives, it’s easy to get caught up in the pursuit of success, wealth, and possessions. We often equate abundance with material prosperity alone, forgetting that true abundance encompasses so much more. At PAL – Pursuing the Abundant Life, we believe that the ultimate goal of an abundant life pursuer is to emulate none other than Jesus Christ Himself.
An abundant life isn’t measured by the size of our bank accounts or the possessions we accumulate. Rather, it’s about cultivating a heart that overflows with purpose, love, and a deep connection with our Creator. Jesus Christ, our Perfect Model and Example, walked the Earth with a profound sense of purpose and a love that didn’t give up in the face of bounds and difficulties.
When we strive to love like Jesus, serve like Him, and fulfill our mission like Him, we are aligning ourselves with the very essence of abundance. Our journey is not about merely acquiring things but about becoming more like Christ in every aspect of our lives.
What does being like Christ really mean?
Loving like Christ loved means extending grace and compassion to others, even when it’s difficult; seeing the inherent value and dignity in every human being, regardless of their circumstances or background, and especially their disagreements with you; seeking peace with all, “Arrogant cynics love to pick fights, but the humble and wise love to pursue peace.” (Proverbs 29:8, The Passion Translation)
Serving like Christ involves putting the needs of others above our own, just as He did when He humbly washed the feet of His disciples (check out John 13:1-15). It means using our gifts and talents to make a positive difference in the world around us, leaving a lasting impact that extends far beyond ourselves.
Fulfilling our mission like Christ requires us to discern God’s calling on our lives and wholeheartedly pursue it. It means stepping out in faith, even when the path ahead seems uncertain, trusting that God will guide these steps and equip us for the journey.
Purpose and Intentionality in the Journey
While the ultimate transformation awaits us in Eternity, we are called to live out our faith here and now, with purpose and intentionality. Each day presents us with opportunities to grow closer to Christ and become more like Him in our thoughts, words, and actions.
